Formosa Chang is a Taiwanese chain store which has taken the standardised every day dishes eaten in Taiwan on a daily basis and put them into something equal to Mcdonalds or KFC. Don't be put off by the fact I am comparing the type of store to Mcdonalds or KFC. I am only comparing it because it is local food, in a chain store styled restuarant where which ever one you go to in the city they all look identical and they pump out your food quickly in a similar way to a fast food restuarant.
It is still Taiwanese food with vegetables and meat unlike the major fast food chains. I had two types of green vegetables and bamboo. Sorry I don't really know the names of all the vegetables there are loads of green leaf ones in Taiwan. As well as the vegetables, chicken and rice there is also a couple of sausages and a tofu piece plonked there too. The portion sizes looked extremely small the first time I went here but by the time I finish it eating, I often feel full.
I like to go to this place when I am in a hurry moving between jobs or I have finished work during lunch time hours and there isn't many options open at that time of day due to a lot of local places closing after lunch time hours are over. It's filling, cheap enough and quick. Plus offers a variety of vegetables so beats the other options when I am on a mad dash or limited with time.
I always love to order the spicy Thai style chicken that costs 100NT for the set, but the shop became famous for their Lu Rou Fan(braised pork with rice). This seems a better option of paying 109NT for a Big Mac meal which is the other options for food in a hurry or something from Seven Eleven.
When I went the other day they had Zongzi which they don't normally have. I really like Zongzi so I had to give it a try too. It was over priced at 80NT but I thought it was nice. Not sure if it was worth paying 80 for but try it out, it was good and they added more stuff to the inside than other places normally do.
All in all after eating here, I was full until I finished work the same cant be said of the standard fast food places people think of. So if your looking for food in a hurry but don't want the usual shite of a burger and fries then check out Formosa Chang.
