Since I got a new job in Xizhi I have been out and about looking around seeing what their is to scran. To be very honest with you there isn't much at all and it's bloody hard work finding some where decent every lunch time. At times I even ran over to Xike Station to get a Ubike and peddle like a maniac looking for something. My mate was right when he said Xizhi is the a spot on the arshole of the Earth or some random bollocks like that. Constantly raining, not many places to eat etc etc.
I saw one wifey from work walking around obviously looking for food too one afternoon and she looked at me like I am a weirdo peddling around like a maniac. Slowing down at every food place then looking through the window like a voyeur.
Pretty much most Friday's now I go for lunch with a few people from our section of the office which has been decent crack so far. Also it helps as I don't have to look around for food on my billy every day. One of the guys who sits near my desk suggested this cafe that he knew and said it was quite good. I didn't have such high hopes with it being in Xizhi and all that but it turned out that it was indeed a little ray of light indeed.
It took me ages to order as I didn't want to be sat with a hipster plate consisting of a cucucumber and one lousy lettuce leaf. I ordered the American breakfast with sausages, bacon and other various stuff. It was a lot nicer than I expected. I am however not sure if Xizhi has lowered my standards or this joint is canny alright.
I do think it was good however, and it wasn't anything to do with my standards being lowered. The sausages and bacon were good, and surprisingly filling as at the time it didn't look like much on the plate but I didn't leave feeling full. I wasn't disappointed when I thought I was going to be, I also thought I wouldn't of been full as a gun. The other guys seemed happy with what they ordered too.
As well as the Breakfast I ordered a tea, and a cake. The tea was good, they used decent tea leafs, unlike another coffee shop I went to near by which just plonked a crappy teabag inside and charged me the same price as the coffee shops that give you real leafs.
The banana bronwie cake was good and if your Taiwanese I can assure you it wasn't too sweet. If your a foreigner you might like it to be sweeter. Not sure if it was home made or not, as I couldn't be arsed to ask with my tiny time limitation on the lunch break meaning I had to get back to work.
If your ever plonked in dreary Xizhi for whatever reason this place is worth checking out, decent grub at decent prices with good drinks and cakes which is close to being a miracle for Xizhi. Well done Mutto Cafe for giving me some decent grub.!!
