At dinner time today, I rocked up home to whisk the missus of for some dinner and even offered to pay for it in some kind of apology for the fact I spent all afternoon working. What she didn't know was I only had 300NT in my wallet so luckily she picked somewhere that wasn't too fancy.
Now don't take that last line the wrong way, just because things don't look too fancy doesn't mean they're awful in Taiwan. I feel like I mention this on a lot of our posts but its true enough.
We were on the scooter for a short while, checking out different places and we stumbled upon Yang's Noodles and Dumplings. Admittedly it looked a bit grotty and run down on the outside but so do most places in Taiwan. The missus assured me she had a good feeling about it, and that we should try.
So I parked like Lewis Hamilton, then went to meet her inside as she pre ordered. We got the two things on the menu we thought looked most speacial to this place. The big pot stickers (fried dumplings) and the missus got the boiled dumplings with a mixture of fish, pork and shrimp inside.
The pot stickers were huge when I saw on the menu that you only got 6 I thought bollocks i'm going to be hungry after this. What I didn't expect was the size of them. They were longer and wider than my head. They had fried them to just the right amount to make sure that the fired parts on the outside were still crunchy. Not gonna lie it was quite greasy but it has to be to get it that crunchy.
The missus said her boiled dumplings were really good too. She seemed happy enough with the shrimps as apparently its not common at all to have shrimp or fish dumplings here. I also think it was relatively cheap.
All in all this was a good find for sure. Another hidden gem that the Magpies want to share with you. I will definitely be making a return visit some time in the future to check out their noodles next time as I have moved on from the ordering everything that looks good and trying to finish everything phase.
If your looking around Chaing Kai Shek for any reason at all make sure you check this out as it is very close by.
