Recently I changed jobs and now I am eventually out of the Buxiban game(Hurrah, Hurraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!) This is exceedingly good news, but also meant I needed a slight change of wardrobe and eventually would have to get round to finding some shirts that could fit my rotound frame.
I instructed the Missus to get online and check out where are the better places to go. She also asked around her friends. The shop her friend greatly insisted on going to was Ying Shi Shirts on Minsheng East Road.
One afternoon during my break I decided to head there on the scooter through the hazardous daily traffic that exists in Taipei City. It was actually a little tricky to spot as it was just a small shop. I went flying past it at first and had to double back on myself.
So I eventually get there and tell the bloke I want a shirt made for a fat lad or something to that effect. He said no bother and started getting the measurements. I made sure I got enough space for my gut to allow me to breathe at work. No point getting shirts made for work, and then wrapping my gut up tight like it's wrapped in shrink wrap. What would be the use in that?
The boss man of the shop was extremely helpful and had no problem in creating breathing space for my round frame to be comfortable.
The next step was to select what style and colour shirts I wanted. He insisted I only get one to begin with so the size is ok, and I liked it. Which was decent of him, as I had planned to just get a load in one go like a normal man shop. He had loads of different colours and styles to choose, it took me a while until I just said that and was done with it.
As a final part of making the shirt, you could decide what to have wrote on your shirt. You could have it on the cuffs, or on the pocket. I prefer it on the pocket. The first thing I got wrote was 'Mags' but this sounded like an old woman from the 1960's or something, so then I changed to Magarmy which sounds a billion times better.
The cost of the shirts depends on what material you pick. The better material equals more expensive shirts obviously. I will be going back here for more shirts in the future. Each shirt I bought cost between 1200-1500NT
He also does suits, too as to be expected in a shop that makes shirts.
So now you know where you can also acquire your very own MagArmy shirt.
